He-Man vs ?

In a 1982 issue of DC Comics Presents, a Superman team-up title, Superman fought with and then teamed with The Man of Steel. The issue number was #47.






To the best of my knowledge, that is the only time He-Man has shared an adventure with a superhero. And that's what makes it so special (both DC and Marvel Comics' Star imprint have had the licence to publish He-Man comics at times). However, what heroes and villains from both the DC and Marvel universes would you like to see He-Man fight with and/or team up with?

I think He-Man vs. The Incredible Hulk is a natural match-up. Just don't ask me to pick a winner, I wouldn't like to say. I mean, a green-skinned giant with no upper strength limit when he gets angry against the "most powerful man in the universe"? No bookmaker would offer odds on that one.

He-Man teaming up with Wonder Woman on Earth might also be fun, especially if they face a god like Ares.

What about villains? In the DC universe, I'd have He-Man fighting Darkseid. Ideally, the setting I would choose would be He-Man and the Heroic Warriors travelling to the planet Apokolips to take on Darkseid's forces.

As far as Marvel characters go, He-Man going toe-to-toe with Juggernaut would be fun, but I guess I'm going to be predictable and opt for Galactus travelling to Eternia to devour it. Skeletor would attempt to stop him, so Skeletor and the Evil Warriors would form a truce with He-Man and the Heroic Warriors to stop Galactus destroying the planet. An interesting angle might be Skeletor offering the planet Etheria (sister planet of Eternia, home to He-Man's sister, She-Ra) in return for Galactus sparing Eternia.

Anyone want to offer any thoughts/ideas?

Interesting crossover that, used to love He Man as a kid, especially the Dolph Lungred movie (there's talk of a remake on the way). Not sure I could add anything to your cross over suggestions though. The one thing I think they get wrong with all these cross overs is that they pit hero against hero, I guess it's what the fans want, but you then have to find a mcguffin to get two good-guys to fight. It'd be more belivable if a DC badguy fought He Man or Skelator turned up in Metropolis.

I can understand what you're saying, but I think "wrong" is perhaps the, erm, wrong word to choose. It is simply one of the conceits of this type of fiction. If it didn't happen, then some people (not saying you are one of them) would probably complain.

For me, it's natural to want to see a fight. If He-Man were going to appear in a book with, say, The Incredible Hulk, then it wouldn't be enough for me to simply see them battle Skeletor, I'd want to see a brief punch-up between the two heroes.

I will say this, though - it doesn't have to happen all of the time. If, for example, Captain America and Superman were going to team up, I don't necessarily need to see Cap possessed and in charge of kryptonite as he goes toe-to-toe with Superman. It's just one example, but I'd be happy simply seeing Superman visit New York, meet Cap and then go on to face foes such as The Red Skull and Lex Luthor.
