I remember reading about this years ago, but that article filled in the blanks.
Speaking of rights deals, I believe the unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film was produced only in order for the film company to retain the rights. It's not a bad film.

Since I disagree with the need for several versions of the same character, can't really say I have much of an opinion of this one (if that sounds rude, it's not meant to be - thanks for posting the link, anyway).
I just wish you could have one version of a character instead of all these different versions.

To tell the truth, I don't have much of an interest in this either...I've never read Marvel's Ultimate line (unless you count the excellent 'Ultimates' serial). Still, it's a newsworthy enough event to make the papers, although as far as I'm concerned if it's not the 'real' Marvel Universe it's not important.
