In the late 80s, London Editions Magazines, an Egmont company, had the licence to reprint DC adventures for a UK audience (Egmont's relationship with DC preceded this, I believe). One of their titles was Batman Monthly, which initially presented 2 Batman stories per issue.
I believe that, coming one year after TV-am had repeated the 60s Batman series, Batman Monthly was receiving a lot of letters asking why the comics weren't showcasing Chief O'Hara, the Bat Phone, etc.
The answer was that the likes of O'Hara and the Bat Phone initially appeared in the 60s TV series rather than the comics. Eventually, O'Hara was introduced in the comics, as was the Bat Phone.
Anyway, it got me thinking. The Bat Phone was introduced in the 60s series, but didn't appear in the comics until 2003. I wonder, what else in comics initially appeared in some other medium, before being introduced to the comics? Can anyone think of any, whether it be characters, concepts, gadgets, etc?
The only other example I can think of off the top of my head is the phone booth that Clark Kent uses to change into Superman. I'm pretty sure that first appeared in the 40s Fleischer cartoons, but now it's everywhere (films, comics, posters, etc.).

The most obvious one to me is Kryptonite which first appeared in the 1940s Superman radio show, before it was introduced in the comics at a later date.
