Okay, which did you prefer - The Beano or The Dandy?
It's a tough choice. I liked both. Dennis the Menace and Desperate Dan are equally as great. I spent many hours reading both annuals/comics.
At a push, though, it would have to be The Dandy. I guess it may have given me just a little bit more enjoyment and some of the characters were more memorable.
What about the rest of you?

I've got to base my choice on the 1970s editions which I grew up with, plus a selection of 1960s annuals which belonged to older cousins. It's a shame that you didn't include additional options such as The Beezer or The Topper, although because neither of these have been published for probably 25 years or so I can fully undertstand why you just chose the 'Big Two'. They still had some great characters though, such as the Numbskulls, Ginger, Corporal Clott, and Mickey The Monkey to name a few. However, The Dandy or The Beano? It's a toughie! There's not much between them; The Dandy had some brilliant characters such as Desperate Dan and (my favourite) Brassneck, but there was always a story - I think it was about a sheepdog - which I tended to skip ( Black Bob was possibly its name). The Beano, however, was always read from cover to cover and so wins almost by default! The Beano for me!

I was actually a Topper and Sparky person, myself! The reason I didn't include further options was, firstly, because other titles haven't been published for years, but most importantly, because I wouldn't have been able to choose between them! If you'd have asked me to choose between The Beano, The Dandy, Topper and Sparky, well that's a choice I couldn't make!

I really enjoyed all of them, Sparky as well. I've got a selection of covers from all these great titles. Look for them soon...starting today with your favourite, The Dandy!

Beano for me, other than the big names (Desperate Dan, Korky the Katt and a few others) I never really liked the Dandy. Read the Beano religiously for many years during the mid/late 80s. Calamity James was my favourite, not sure if he was around in the 70s.
Got my hands on a few copies of the 80s version a year or so ago, they haven't aged well, I guess I've just grown up, but other than a quick nostalgia buzz there's nothing there to appeal to older readers.
