We looked at Galactus in the first Cosmic Characters topic. Well, I thought it was time to look at another heavy hitter in the Marvel universe, Eternity. Eternity, who first appeared in Strange Tales in 1965, is the living embodiment of the universe. He is omnipresent and virtually unlimited in power. I prefer Marvel's cosmic characters over DC's characters. DC has some great cosmic characters, but the ones in Marvel are awe-inspiring, visually cool and lend themselves to fascinating storylines. Not just action-packed storylines, but storylines that explore deep concepts. Eternity is hard to comprehend. He has had conversations with the likes of Doctor Strange and Galactus. And he is a very important character in the grand scheme of things. He is also unaffected by things such as the passage of time, but is obviously targeted by evil characters who want to use Eternity's powers for their own nefarious ends. The character has retained his mystique over time and has featured in many wonderful storylines. In Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #42 (June 1992), Galactus asks Doctor Strange to help him find out why Eternity is in such a deep trance. The stories where Eternity has battled other cosmic characters have been brilliant, too. There are some details about this interesting character in the link below. And like I said, he's visually cool. Enjoy the link. marvel.com/universe/Eternity

I've got to admit that Eternity is a character I had long forgotten about, it's been such along time since I read any stories with him in it. The memories started coming back though, once I checked out the links in your post. I honestly can't comment on any stories he appeared in, although I remember the character as soon as I saw the images. I'll have to refresh my memory, I think!
Thye Captain Universe character referred to, is that the character drawn by Steve Ditko who first appeared in the late 70s/early 80s in Marvel Spotlight or Marvel Premiere by any chance?

I really enjoyed that series (perhaps it was only a few issues) at the time but haven't looked at it since. I'll have to check it out again in the near future. Before I read the link in your original post, I was actually thinking of someone else. The character that first popped into my head actually turned out to be the Doctor Strange villain, Nightmare. The second I still can't quite place, I can picture him though...I can picture the character in my mind, with John Buscema art (so I think it was early 70s FF or maybe the Silver Surfer or Avengers) but the guy had white hair and a moustache and I'm pretty sure he was an alien. It'll come to me...

That'll be The Stranger - did he wear red and green? If so, it is him. He's clashed with the Silver Surfer on many occasions and was responsible for kidnapping The Abomination once.
