Sadly I can’t scan the insides of these, but there’s an amazing ad in the December issue for The Prisoner on VHS. Each VHS contains one whole episode and comes in a special luxury packaging. Priced at $40 each, that better be some luxury packaging. Don’t worry if that price is a little steep though, because if you buy all 17 episodes they’ll give you a 10% discount. That’s just over $600 + p&p for the series. Thank God for DVD boxsets is all I can say. June 84 November 85 December 85

Some more great covers there! Interesting to see more big names (such as George RR Martin) appearing in this. I kow the sort of adverts you're referring to, I'm sure I've got similar adverts in magazines such as Starlog from around that time for a few different series, although I'd have to check. It's amazing how good value most dvd boxsets are nowadays, I remember buying literally hundreds of videos back in the 90s at £10 or so each which only featured two episodes per tape...original Star Trek, TNG, Doctor Who, Blakes 7, Doomwatch, Persuaders, Randall & Hopkirk, The Saint and many others...many of which I've still got in the loft but haven't yet got round to replacing on dvd (can't afford all that lot at once!)...I should've flogged them on e-Bay years ago and invested any profits on the dvds!

Loving the November '85 cover.
And, yes, I agree about prices. As a member of Britannia Music (and other clubs) many moons ago, I shudder at what I paid.
With TNG, they released 89 VHS tapes. Not saying I bought all of them, but bought quite a few from Virgin Records at expensive prices and it cost me a bomb!
