Every one of those covers is brilliant! From a more innocent era, a more quirky era (and I don't mean quirky as a pejorative). I mean, in the fourth issue you have Robin being hit by a sack being carried by a guy in a santa suit atop a mountain. In this age of gritty storytelling, would such a cover ever have a chance of being produced today? The eleventh issue has a wedding. Robin and Batgirl getting married? What? The thirteenth issue has The Outsider holding Batgirl and Robin by their capes - with Man-Bat to the rescue. Fantastic! Two questions, one a trivia question. Batman villain The Outsider was really who? No prizes, but you'll have my respect. Second question, I cannot ever recall Robin fighting Man-Bat. Yes, the characters teamed whenever Man-Bat was sane, but whenever he was in one of his insane incarnations, I don't recall him ever battling Robin. Did it happen?

I love covers from this period in general! They were great fun, and typical of the time; this is what I grew up with and I get great pleasure looking at them again. Of course many of them are new to me, but a surprising number are so familiar (particularly in these Family titles)...I must have read more DC comics than I thought back then! I'm not aware of Robin fighting Man-Bat either, but I certainly don't have your knowledge of the DC Universe, Stephen! I do know the answer to your other question though...it was Alfred the butler, wasn't it? I don't believe I've ever read the story, but it's one of those trivia things which I came across a while back (could it possibly have even been yourself which mentioned it in another thread?)

Yes, The Outsider was Alfred the Butler - well done! Wish I could give you a prize. As for Robin VS Man-Bat, a Google search gave me this link: powerrecord.blogspot.com/2007/12/batman-robin-meets-man-bat.htmlI feel like giving one more trivia question so here goes. Which Batman villain, who made his debut in 1948, didn't appear again after his initial appearances until 1965 (we're talking strictly comics here)? Answers on a postcard!
