One great thing about titles such as this is how it allowed young folk to escape into a world of excitement and fantasy.
The thing is, we all need escapism (why else were the likes of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon so popular during the Great Depression?). We want to escape to fictional worlds and enjoy the exploits of characters who thrill and excite us.
So, stories featuring heroes travelling into space to battle monsters or travelling to distant lands full of dinosaurs were tales that really captured our imagination and were a lot of fun.

What's not to love about a title that has stories with titles such as "The Door That Wouldn't Open"?
