Never read these. Would like to, though. And don't those covers grab you, meaning you have to buy them?

Never read these. Would like to, though. And don't those covers grab you, meaning you have to buy them? I love them. The intelligent Tarzan from the comics and books is a far cry from the rather simple "Me Tarzan" character seen in all those old films. While they took the character's name and settings, that's about all that was used. I grew up in a time though where these films were regularly shown by the BBC on tv, and we also had the Ron Ely tv series as well as an enjoyable old Filmation (I think!) cartoon series so I enjoyed as much exposure to the character as I could possibly get. I was only able to read a few of the DC comics at the time, and never a consecutive run of them, it was years later before I read most of them, but they - the Kubert run - are possibly the best Tarzan run of comics, ever. Marvel had a great series as well, but unfortunately (for me personally - I don't mean that it's a bad series) it was by the then - Conan creative team of Roy Thomas and John Buscema, and I felt that stylishly it was simply too similar to (the then-excellent) Conan. It is an excellent series if taken on it's own merits though, but I just felt that Conan should feel like Conan, and Tarzan should feel like Tarzan, not Conan-lite.

On the subject of Tarzan, it is my ambition to see every Tarzan film ever made. Well, there's no harm in trying, is there?

The big problem with that is trying to find all those early films with different actors (Bruce Bennet etc) playing Tarzan. I believe you can pick some of those up cheaply on Amazon, though.
My Tarzan film collection currently runs from the first Weismuller film through to the last Mike Henry one, along with Greystoke and the 1981 version of Tarzan The Apeman. I'm struggling to find a copy of the 1959 Denny Miller version, though.
