For quite a while, the Image Comics series Elephantmen has intrigued me. It's had good reviews and the premise interests me. Sooner or later, I'm going to have to check it out. I'm sure I will read it at one point, but that brings me to the question I want to ask you all: What titles, past or present, do you want to read? What title do you feel you may enjoy, but haven't yet read? What is the one title you feel you've got to pick up sooner or later, based on the premise being interesting to you? Looking forward to your answers, folks.

So what's it about? The cover looks good, though the last thing I need is another comic book to read. As you probably know I'm currently working my way through The Punisher Max. I'm just waiting for volume 6 to be delivered, the series ends at volume 9, so I dare say I'll be buying the remaining books at some point. I've also got volume 1 of Deadpool Max on the way, interested to see what that's like. So far there's only three volumes in the Max series, so if it's good they'll be on my Wishlist. At the weekend I found a TPB of something called Dogwitch for £2 in a secondhand shop. Not really into Goth culture, but it's quite good, not good enough to pay £80 for the first volume though. ( www.amazon.co.uk/Dogwitch-Direct-Video-Daniel-Schaffer/dp/1579890628/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1334225548&sr=1-2 ), so unless anymore turn up in charity shops I won't be buying anymore. Books I'd like to read? Alan Moore's From Hell has been sitting on my wishlist for what seems like years. I like the idea of Superman: Red Son and I very nearly bought The Rocketeer when I was ordering my next Punisher fix. I think my days of saying I'm not really a comic book reader are long gone now.

It's about animal/human crossbreeds, originally created to kill as soldiers in Africa. They eventually leave that life and try to integrate themselves into American society - of course, there's much more to it than that, but that's the basic premise. I think it sounds good, but I won't know until I've read it. Superman: Red Son is a great story, an interesting look at how things can be different depending on your upbringing. A Superman raised in Soviet Russia is going to be different to a Superman raised in the American Midwest. For an interesting look at how Superman may have been raised differently elsewhere, there's also Superman: True Brit, where Superman is raised in Weston-super-Mare, and Superman: The Dark Side, where Kal-El's rocket lands on the planet Apokolips, where he is raised by the evil ruler Darkseid.

There are a couple of titles I've been meaning to read. These are long-running titles as you'll see, but I'm just talking about specific eras by specific writers.
I'd love to read the entire Peter David run from The Incredible Hulk back in the 80s; I've read the issues just prior to his and have been impressed with a couple of graphic novels I read back in the 90s. And also I'd love to read the entire JMS run on Spider-Man...I love his Babylon 5 series and again, when I've dipped into his Spider-Man work I've been impressed. Probably a read of an extended run of either series is needed to do their work justice, though...
More coming soon!

This comic book buying is starting to get out of hand. Innocently wandered into a boot sale yesterday and found a guy selling 2000Ad TPBs for 50p each. Bought a couple then found an original 70's Planet of The Apes for also 50p. Needless to say that's been added to my collection. Apparently he's there every week and he's promised to have more next week.
My pile of un-read comics is getting to be almost as big as my pile of un-watched DVDs, reckon it's time to start boxing some up and storing them in the loft.
