Comics can take themselves too seriously at times. Sometimes, gritty tales can be good, but I much prefer escapism.
Those covers you posted are all charming. Where else can you see villains such as The Porcupine?
And what of the free gifts? Some of today's children would probably be satisfied with nothing less than a PC game or DVD being given away, but we were satisfied with masks, missile launchers, etc.
